Here the affiliate earns a percentage of profit as commission or in some cases the commission amount is fixed. So every time the affiliate makes a sale it can be through links which are available online, emails, RSS feeds which is very popular these days, blogs and other methods.

Another system of affiliate marketing is the cost-per click method. Wherein, the affiliate earns commission every time somebody clicks on the advertisement which is displayed on the website. But this method of affiliate marketing is not that popular because the possibilities of fraud (like indexing sites which are useless, sending spam and creation of ad ware) are very high. Therefore this system is not preferred.

Even the cost involved in affiliate marketing is very less or actually speaking there is no cost involved at all. So advertising banners can be placed on the affiliate sites by the merchants free of cost. The merchant will have to pay only when there is a lead generated, and this happens when a sale takes place, which is what the merchant and the affiliate is looking for. Here the merchants have a free hand to set the rules to be fulfilled by the affiliates and also is the sole authority in fixing the incentives for the affiliates.

Therefore, this method of affiliate marketing is the most inexpensive and highly profitable method. Thus, affiliate marketing is one method of advertising which is preferred and followed by all merchants both the established ones and the upcoming business merchants, as the there is no cost involved and minimal or no risk at all.
