From bad to worse…It's hard to be in a situation where you can't work. All you want is to go back to having a normal life, but for the time being you just can't. You have enough to worry about with medical bills and trying to figure out how you're going to live on the meager disability doled out to you each month. The last thing you need is to owe money to the IRS. But for some of you that is exactly what's happened.

So what can you do? You're already living at the barest minimum available for you. You may at least have a house that you have some kind of equity in but that's likely to be your only substantial asset; and you've probably had to borrow against the equity just to keep your self afloat.

They are without mercy…Now the IRS is demanding that you pay them money that you don't have to pay a tax debt. And the worst part is the IRS can actually garnish up to 15% of your disability check.

Is there an end in sight? An IRS debt can feel like the tipping point in your life. You're already dealing with the pain your disability has caused, plus you likely have to deal with depression and stress that would crush the will of a healthy person. But there is a solution to dealing with this IRS tax debt.

Get yourself on track…You can apply for Currently Non Collectible status with the IRS. You can get the IRS to stop all collection activity against you if you're able to qualify.

You will have to submit to a full income and lifestyle disclosure, and the IRS is thorough in going over your finances because they don't want to give up their collection efforts.

Even if you intend to go back to work, and get back on your feet the Currently Non Collectible status will remain until you go back to work. The IRS checks on your finances every year to determine if you're still Currently Non Collectible and does reinstate your debt if they see a positive financial gain.

You don't have to worry…If you're permanently disabled you will remain in the Currently Non Collectible status until the IRS Statute of Limitations runs out after 10 years.

Your disability has made your life hard enough, and you deserve to have as close to a normal life as you can. And the IRS doesn't have to be a part of that.

Now you have the smoking gun…Use it!
