Congratulations, you finally got an iPod touch. It is a thing of beauty and you are mesmerized by it's shiny newness and you obsessively polish the surface. It's time to do some shopping to protect and enhance your enjoyment of the brand new toy. Here's a list of accessories for the new iPod touch owner.

The first few accessories I would recommend are found commonly in accessory bundles: screen protectors, cases, chargers. These are all must haves.

The iPod touch screen itself is scratch resistent but the back is not. It would bother me if my pristine toy is nicked in anyway, along with fingerprints and smudges. I'd put on a screen on the front and the back. Screen protectors are commonly tossed in accessory bundles but there are more high end full body shields out there made of military polyurethane film if that is your decision.

Next on the list is a proper fitting case as screen protectors don't protect the iPod from falls. Just a little more padding would cushion any blows. Again, cases are found commonly with accessory bundles. Of course, they would be generic OEM models but for the price of these bundles going for $1 each on eBay auctions, it's perfect for the new iPod owner who wants to bide his time while deciding on something better.

The other item that is commonly found in accessory bundles are chargers. I have a lot of them as I'm constantly on the go. I have one in my car, in different rooms of my house, in my work office, and I take one while I'm away on trips. I never like to be without my music and they are so cheap. Get a few of them.

While I've recommended a few iPod touch accessories that can be found dirt cheap, my next recommendation you really shouldn't scrimp on: earphones. What's the deal with iPod's earphones? They are of poor sound quality and they are uncomfortable. Ditch them and get as nice pair of in-ear noise reducing earphones as you can afford. It just doesn't make sense to not have a quality pair of iPod touch earphones for a high end mp3 player.

For my last iPod accessory recommendation, I'd suggest getting a dock station to showcase your iPod touch at home. You can connect it to your entertainment system and control it via remote. Or you might opt for a dock station complete with speakers. In any case, get the most out of your iPod music library at home with a dock station.

Those are my recommendations for accessories which can be had for discount prices without breaking the bank but multiplies your enjoyment with the iPod immensely.
